Taking on the role of game master

Bookshelf

Being a fan of pen and paper roleplaying, and not knowing many people who play, is pretty tough. Sometimes, when you find a couple of people who seem like they might be even slightly interested in trying it out, you have to seize the opportunity. This can be a tall order if you don’t have much experience actually playing the game, and are suddenly thrust into the role of game master.

This is exactly what has happened to me this year. I’ve been collecting Pathfinder RPG books and game aids for several years now, in the hope that I would eventually find a gaming group. Thirty-something books later, I finally found some willing players… leaving me as the only choice for actually running the games.

Over the next few weeks and months, I’ll be detailing my adventures into the daunting world of game mastering.
