LEGO Wall-E

I generally collect LEGO for the minifigures – you could say I have quite a minifig obsesssion – so I generally buy LEGO sets based on what minifigs are included in the set. So this is a first for me: I purchased a LEGO set that contained no minifigs! When I saw LEGO Wall-E in the toy store, I didn’t hesitate (and it’s a good thing I didn’t – I haven’t seen him in any other stores since). He’s another awesome LEGO Ideas set, and I think the cutest set in my collection.

One disappointing thing with the set is Wall-E’s neck – as it is in the set, the neck joint is not strong enough to support his head fully, so if you tilt his head up at an angle, the eyes swing around to face backwards. A quick Google search revealed that I was not the only one experiencing this issue, and I quickly found several fixes. I ended up going with Chris McVeigh’s design, which creates a sturdy joint that can support the weight of Wall-E’s adorable giant eyes. I believe you can order the parts from LEGO, though I’m not sure if that applies in South Africa. In my case, I just used some parts that my dad had. Some of the colours weren’t the right colour and we had to substitute a few parts, but we made it work.

I’ll leave you with some photos of this super-cute little robot to make your Monday just that little bit better!

He’s got 676 pieces, and comes out at around 18cm high and 16cm wide. He’s been given a special place in the BIG FIGURINE DISPLAY CASE šŸ˜€
