2016 in Review

2016 was a busy year for me and the blog. I took on more responsibility at my day job, which meant I had less time for other things, like this blog. I also had a minor wrist operation in September, which made it difficult to type and meant even fewer blog posts. And while I’m still undecided about where I really want to go with my blog, I’ll be continuing for now, posting when I can and when I’m inspired (which always seems to be when I write the best stuff). But for now, I wanted to look back at what I did post in 2016.

The Triangular Room has doubled its views and visitors over 2015’s stats, so I like to think that means I’m doing something right!

The Sims

I continued with my Jones legacy challenge story, and even made them their own page to make it easier to find old posts. I posted over 30 chapters in their story in 2016, from chapter 86 to 119, spanning generations 5 to 7. I also started the drifter challenge, which is a challenge where you start in an empty world, control a single Sim, and complete certain challenges as you go through each generation.

Pathfinder

I was a Pathfinder player this year rather than a game master, and I think that lead to me thinking less about the game and issues from which my blog posts used to arise. Still, I posted builds for two of my favourite TV characters, Xena and Gabrielle. I also started a campaign journal of our ongoing Pathfinder game.

Other Articles

I wrote a few other posts on other topics, including one about bullet journals, my new LEGO minifigure display case, and a post about my unique brand of geek.

I also reviewed a few movies here on the blog, including Batman v Superman and Warcraft. I reviewed some games over on SA Gamer (besides Sims games, of course!) including Planet Coaster, Civilization VI, Ori and the Blind Forest Definitive Edition, and several LEGO games: LEGO Dimensions, LEGO Force Awakens and LEGO Avengers. I also continued with my voice actor highlight posts every other Tuesday, and wrote a post about how much the Uncharted series means to me.

Instagram

In 2016 I focused on growing my Instagram account. It’s been slow going as I figured out what hashtags to use, when to post, and of course, how to improve my photos. My account, @TriangularRoom, is just for LEGO photos, with the occassional Skylander, Disney Infinity figure and amiibo thrown in. I thought I’d end this post by sharing a few of my favourite photos from 2016!
